Finding & Joining a Group

To find or join an existing group:

• Groups Directory: Navigate to the “Groups” section in the main menu or member dashboard.
• Browsing Groups: You’ll see a list of available groups. You can filter and sort them based on various criteria (e.g., recently active, most members, alphabetical).
• Viewing Group Details: Click on a group name to view its description, members, activity, and privacy settings.
• Joining a Group:
  • Public Groups: You’ll usually see a “Join Group” button. Click it to become a member instantly.
  • Private Groups: You’ll see a “Request Membership” button. Click it, and the group administrators will be notified of your request.
  • Hidden Groups: You can only join if a current member invites you.

2. Participating in Groups:

• Activity Stream: Once you’re a member, go to the group’s page and look for the activity stream.
• Posting Updates: Use the text box to share updates, ask questions, or start discussions with other group members. You might be able to include links, mentions (@username), and potentially media.
• Commenting on Posts: Engage with other members by commenting on their posts.
• Using Forums (if enabled): If the group has a forum, navigate to the “Forum” tab. You can browse existing topics or create new ones for more structured discussions.
• Sharing Media/Documents: Look for tabs or options related to photos, videos, or documents to share files with the group.
